Appraisal Training Course (for the Appraiser)
Note: This is an example of our generic training course. All of our generic courses are tailored to utilise your own organisation's systems, policies or procedures.
Appraisal in your organisation may also be known as Performance Development Review. The language and terminology of this courses content will be changed accordingly.
This Appraisal Training course is aimed directly at those carrying out the appraisal, so that they will better understand the purpose, aims, process and benefits of the appraisal system.
By the end of this training session, the delegate will be able to:
- Clarify the purposes of your organisation's appraisal system and what it is designed to do;
- Explore expectations of appraisal from the point of view of the organisation or company and the staff;
- Recognise the affect that appraisal can have on staff motivation;
- State the differences between appraisal systems which develop people to those which control people;
- Clearly state the processes and essential features of appraisal;
- Identify how the Company or Organisation's Business Plan can be used when agreeing targets;
- State the principles of negotiating SMART targets which are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound;
- Know how to identify individual training and development needs;
- Know how to use your company or organisation's paperwork and system;
- Know how to record agreements and to complete the paperwork;
- Recognise how own behaviour will impact on others;
- Recognise the importance of providing continuing support to staff.
Course Duration
Thiis is a 2-day course.
Assessment of the Course
All courses have an immediate 'post-course' assessment, a copy of which is provided back to the training course organiser or company training officer.
We also recommend that there is a pre-course and post-course attendance discussion between the delegate and their line manager.
Also, the success of the course can be understood by monitoring the implementation of the course content by the delegate.
