Final Registration Date for PTLLS, CTLLS and DTLLS Suggested

Trainer Training and AccreditationThe final registrations for the PTLLS, CTLLS and DTLLS qualifications are likely to be 31/08/2014, according to a City & Guilds News Release.

Once confirmed, candidates wishing to achieve these specific qualifications will not be able to register for them and the last certification date would then be 31/08/2016 for the PTLLS and CTLLS, and 31/12/2017 for DTLLS.

The new qualifications in Education and Training are now available as follows:

PTLLS ReplacementLevel 3 Award in Education and Training (City & Guilds 6502)

Who is the qualification for?

  • For candidates who work, or want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector
  • For candidates who are not in a teaching/training role, or who have just started a teaching/training role
  • For candidates who want a short qualification to enable them to make career choices
  • For candidates who have already achieved some Learning and Development units that can be carried forward into this qualification.
  • For candidates who have completed the City & Guilds trainer skills or introduction to training qualifications ( 7300 and 1106-01)

What does the qualification cover?

The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and training skills sector;

  • the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • inclusive teaching and learning approaches
  • assessment of learners
  • facilitating learning and development for individuals
  • facilitating learning and development in groups
  • understanding principles and practices of assessment

CTLLS ReplacementLevel 4 Certificate in Education and Training (City & Guilds 6502)

Who is the qualification for?

  • For candidates who work or who want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector.
  • For candidates who have just started a teaching/training role.
  • For teachers/trainers who are seeking career progression in their area of work,
  • For candidates who work with learners on a one-to-one basis
  • For candidates who teach in industry.
  • For candidates who have already achieved some Learning and Development units that can be carried forward into this qualification.
  • For candidates who are assessors and wish to achieve a teaching/training qualification.
  • For candidates who have completed the City and Guilds Trainer skills or introduction to training qualifications (7300,1103-01 or 6258)

What does the qualification cover?

The qualification covers the knowledge and skills required by teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector, such as:

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training
  • Delivering education and training
  • Assessing learners in education and training
  • Using resources for education and training

DTLLS ReplacementLevel 5 Diploma in Education and Training (City & Guilds 6502-51/52)

Who is the qualification for?

  • For candidates who work or who want to work as teachers/trainers in the further education and skills sector.
  • For candidates who are not in a teaching/training role or who have just started a teaching/training role.
  • For teachers/trainers who are seeking career progression in their area of work,
  • For candidates who have already achieved some Learning and Development units that can be carried forward into this qualification.
  • For candidates who are assessors and wish to achieve a teaching/training qualification.
  • For candidates who have completed the City and Guilds Award in Education and Training, or Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector and wish to progress
  • For candidates who have completed the City and Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or the Level 4 Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, and wish to progress.
  • For candidates who have completed the City and Guilds Trainer skills or introduction to training qualifications (7300,1103-01 or 6258)

  • Teaching, learning and assessment in education and training
  • Developing teaching learning and assessment in education and training
  • Theories, principles and models of education and training
